America's sweetheart, impassioned lifelong animal welfare advocate, and New York Times-bestselling author Betty White offers intimate and funny stories about her animal friends at the zoo, enhanced by gorgeous four-color photographs.
This is really a nice photo collection. There are all sorts of photos of the animals that Betty White has come in contact with at zoos across the country. Several have the story of how Betty came in contact with the animal or what the animal means to her, or some have an experience she's shared with the animal. Just a nice, quick read.

Love the book. There isn't a lot of text but the pictures are so great that they speak for themselves. This book is a keeper.

Please don't waste your hard earned money on this...it is basically a glorified picture book. I made the mistake of purchasing it online as a gift for someone who loves Betty White. Had I had seen it in the store first, I would never have selected it. The recipient said she read through it in about 30 minutes and I ended up feeling duped.

She gives some interesting facts about the animals, shares her special one-on-one encounters she's had with many and manages to include some humor as well. The only thing I object to was that she gives "Mother Nature" credit for the animals instead of God, the creator. This book is centered around the photographs that are true works of art. Tad Motoyama, the L.A. Zoo's official photographer, gave her some of his photos that she chose to share with the world through this book.
My favorite experience she shared was that she developed a bond with a baby gorilla named Lulu, and when it was older, it blew her kisses. Years later when visiting another zoo, she saw a gorilla do the same thing and mentioned that Lulu used to do that with her too. It turned out that was the same gorilla!
I highly recommend this as a must read for all animal lovers--a great animal book and a fast read with no boring parts! I loved it!

If you are an animal lover or a Betty White fan or both, you will enjoy this book! The pictures are FABULOUS! I really enjoyed the back story about how she came to know each animal and how the animals came to love her. She is an amazing person and has dedicated her entire life to the humane treatment of animals as well as helping to rebuild the populations of animals that are nearly extinct! I have always been somebody who is distrusting of caged animals, however, after reading this book and hearing Betty's stories, I have opened my mind a bit to see that there are some zoo locations that truly do treat the animals humanely and love them as if they are their children! Also after reading this book, I wish I could access the same spaces and achieve the same loving connections with these exotic animals! It is a very quick read, but I thoroughly enjoyed it! Thank you Betty for sharing your wonderful stories of love with us!!

This is a 90 page book with some of the pages containing only pictures. This is Betty White telling why she enjoys zoo's and, why they are important when they are well run. She's had a deep love of animals all of her life and she will give you animals that have been saved from extinction because of zoo's. There is no denying that she has a deep love for these animals and all animals. As an animal lover from childhood myself, I learned a lot. It was a light, enjoyable read.
