Glossary of Classes/Terms

Class identifications

arch - Architecture volumes. This category is for volume names beginning with alpha_osf*, sun4m*, hp700*, common.*, etc.
class - Class volumes. Volumes that begin "c."
misc - Just what it says. The cruft of the cruft.
proj - Project volumes. Volumes that begin "p.", and are usually mounted in /p/...
software - Volumes that begin "s.", and are usually mounted in /s/...
src - Source code volumes. Volumes that begin "src.", and are usually mounted in /p/src/... These generally contain source code to operating systems and other major systems in the department.
stat - Volumes that begin with "stat.". These volumes pertain to projects organized by the statistics department. These are generally mounted under /p/stat/...
unsup - Volumes that begin with "un.". This is unsupported software mounted in /unsup/...
user - User volumes, beginning with "u.", and mounted in /u/...
rootvols - One of root.afs, root.cell, p.root, s.root, u.root, unsup.root, and s.std.
