!!DriveImageXML DriveImageXML is a shareware program which works best from a Windows preinstallation environment, such as [BartPE]. The biggest requirement that DriveImageXML has is that the partition table be properly set up before running the program. The space allocated to copy to must be at least as big as the drive that is used as the image. ---- !Setup Run the QTParted Partition manager and set up the hard drive as you want it. Make sure that the boot flag is set for the partition that you have a boot loader on. Save some space for EdGCM files (20gigs). ---- On the Dells in [380], you don't necessarily need to destroy the data at the beginning and end of the hard drive, but it is backed up on [sephiroth]. !Running DriveImageXML (You need a mouse) *After setting up the partitions insert the [bartpe] disk, and go through it's setup routine. *Select DriveImageXML from the list of programs. *Click next a few times. *Browse for the network drive with the image you want to get. *Select the partition you want to install the image to. *Type the string the program asks you to type. *Wait a little while. ---- !AfterImage (any 80's Rush fans working here now?) *Configure [deepfreeze|?page=security], unlike [G4U], frozen machines can be imaged with DriveImageXML. *Boot up Windows (or your favorite OS), reset the network name.
