Of all the people in the building, these people are probably the ones you want to keep the happiest. !The people to know in the Geography Department include: ---- !Building Manager and Cartography Lab Boss Onno Brouer, he's got the keys for everything as well as tools in case you need to build chairs or install keyboard drawers. His offices are in the Cartography Lab as well as right behind the Cart Lab near the back staircase. !Department Administrator Trina Messer, her office is on the first floor, but she's rarely ever there. She often has some pretty high expectations for the way computers should function. !Map Librarian Jamie Stoltenberg, her office is in the map library. She's got a laptop that needs to be hooked up to the [print server|?page=mlpserv] in the map library and the [print server|?page=gispserv] in m376 so she can get the [print queue logs|?page=itc]. Her username might be Martindale on some of the machines still since she is recently married. She is very nice and patient, and since she only has six computers that she needs you to make work, give your best effort. !Undergrad and Graduate coordinators. Sunshine Jansen is in room 160, the general geography office, she rarely needs our help for anything, but her office is where you go to pick up things you ordered from UPS or FedEx. Tammy Schlender is in room 144 (first right when coming up the front stair case) She often has a student hourly working with her on another computer in her office and needs access to the geography grad student database, which has the same awful schema as the nelson grad database. There are usually two or three printers in Tammy's office running off an old linksys print server. Read the documentation on the print server, you need to add specific ports corresponding to the physical ports on the device before adding the printers to any new computer in her room. !Payroll Penny Van Deventer is apparently retiring sometime soon, but currently is stuck in room 143. She loves the Beegees and has a son in College studying aviation. Her student hourly's name is Jason, there are two computers and two printers in her room. If the internet stops working in her room switch the settings to half-duplex. Penny is in charge of payroll, but not your payroll. !GIS Certificate Karen Tuerk takes care of the GIS Certificate program, which she claims is the reason we can afford so many nice computers. Therefore she has a considerable amount of clout over which upgrades get purchased and which versions of software linger. Her office is on the fourth floor next to [history of cartography|?page=histcart]. She teaches some GIS classes and is the person who needs GPS connection software (Arcpad, Trimble office, MS Activesync) installed on the computers. !Information Technology Paul is your boss, enjoy his wit and wisdom! His office next to your storage room in M380. Try to look busy when he comes around. !Department Chair Whichever Geography faculty member is the department chair gets a second office on the first floor. Right now Matt Turner is the chair, he's a pretty good guy who has courteous expectations about the kinds of things you can accompolish. He's got a laptop that occasionally needs fixing. His dad also helps out around Science Hall.
