!BartPE 
BartPE is a preinstallation environment for Windows XP (A glorified boot disk).
It comes with many addons and you can add your own programs, but generally all we need it for is [DriveImageXML]. 
To set up a BartPE, you need the files from http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/ , a [WindowsXP SP2 CD|?page=software_storage], a blank CD and a CD burner. 
I won't repeat the info off the website, but you must provide your own SATA drivers and NIC drivers and place them in the correct folders before burning the CD.  This is the reason we don't use BartPE on the Black Antechs in [m376].  It might be worth figuring out why it doesn't work someday.

*Insert the Disk and boot up.
*Use the default network settings, but use the wizard to map a network drive.
**\\144.92.235.16 (or one of the DHCP addresses) \pub is the drive you want to map

!Other Uses
BartPE can also be used to get files off hard drives.  It has a utility to scan disks for files regardless of partition information and retrieve lost data.  It can also share drives, so you can map to the BartPE instance to retrieve those files without having to extract the harddrive from the computer.  
However, this is not free software...
