!Geography Print Server There are two printers in room m376 hooked up to the [print server|?page=ITC]. These printers are one color dell 5000n and one HP Laserjet 1200. These are the most used printers in the building. We generally keep the paper in the office, with a few extra sheets on the shelf near the printers. Extra paper should be ordered through the Map Library. [Jamie Stoltenberg|?page=people] is reponsible for keeping track of the money debited to pay for printing, this is where the money for the toner and paper comes from. She needs to have access to a directory on this server where the card reader's logs are saved. !IP Address The IP Address for gispserv is 144.92.235.28. ---- !Printer Setup The dell printer plugs in with it's network port and is installed through TCP/IT and the HP plugs in with a parallel port. The printers should both have the correct drivers installed which you can download off the manufacturers websites. They should both be installed twice; once as holding queues and once as release queues !Hold Queues *The hold queues need to have short, one word share names so they can work with UNIX. *The hold queues should have their ports set as LPT1, even if they are USB. *The hold queues should be paused and the the owner should be user "root" *The administrator should only be able to print to the hold queues, not change any settings *The hold queues should be shared *Advanced printing services should be turned off and the printer should wait to spool before sending job. !Release Queues *The release queues should not be shared (or if they are they should be secured from "administrator" access *Otherwise, the release queues should print normally. ---- See also ([Mac Printing|?page=mac_printing])
