!!Mac Printing Printing to a Macintosh is either easy, difficult, or impossible. Depending on the classification, you should be able to judge how much time you want to spend trying to get a printer to print. !Easy Printing Easy printing include HP printers, most of which are already added to the list of printers. Unless networked, these rarely give you any problems. Also new printers that come with driver CD's generally work. Don't be a smart guy and download the drivers just because you can. Use the CD and let it update if it feels it needs to. !Difficult Printing Nearly any working Windows shared printer can be networked and printed to through SMB (Samba) and GimpPrint printer drivers. SMB printing requires the printer share name to be one word and less than ten characters. Windows machines don't really care about this name, so don't worry about being descriptive. Note: Color Dells 3500's use Color LaserJet 5500's drivers. Printing to the [Geography Department Copier|?page=geography_office_copier] is a hit or miss event. The drivers are available from gordonflesch.com and the IP address is 144.92.235.95. But after that you're on your own. !Impossible Printing There are some printers which don't work on Macs (or at least with OSX) but they're getting fewer and fewer. The Tektronix printers which we used to have in [m376] were of these type.
