Cooper and Raft save lives during a sea tragedy in this story about slave trade on the high seas in 1842.
George Raft and Gary Cooper are well cast as buddies on the seas, fighting the slave trade. There's a sinking ship climax similar to TITANIC, although on a smaller scale, and a court drama where Cooper is accused of wanton murder in rescuing some but not all of the survivors. Good solid performances and an absorbing, thoughtful film. This was deservedly Oscar nommed for Art Direction, Score and Assistant Director. Worth a look.
