Norwegian Wood: John Lennon & Infidelity
Hi there,
talking about (in)fidelity reminds me of one of the great songs of the late
Beatle, John Lennon. "Norwegian Wood" is the title. Although the music
possesses its own undefinable, idyllic charm, the one thing i love the most
about "Wood" is its *lyric*. John had been inspired by one of his (probably
uncountable) affairs, in the post-Cynthia-and-pre-Yoko period. The humorous
punchlines and the subtle but yet crystal-clear innuendos - he was careful
enough so as not to piss Cynthia off - has made this composition a truly
great evergreen.
Included here's the lyric for your study and (hopefully) enjoyment. (Too
bad the net technology is still not powerful enough for me to post
soundclips.)
Anybody else wanna talk about inspirational music/lyrics? I have some more
materials handy, but am not quite sure if this topic raises enough
interest.
Any beatlemaniac out there?
Cheers,
-- Vu~

I once had a girl, or should I say, she once had me.
She showed me her room, isn't it good, norwegian wood?
She asked me to stay and she told me to sit anywhere,
So I looked around and I noticed there wasn't a chair.
I sat on a rug, biding my time, drinking her wine.
We talked until two and then she said, "It's time for bed".
She told me she worked in the morning and started to laugh.
I told her I didn't and crawled off to sleep in the bath.
And when I awoke I was alone, this bird had flown.
So I lit a fire, isn't it good, norwegian wood.
