Re: Taboo in Vietnamese Movies

Hi Thanh,
I think the movie industry of Asia will move up soon. The movie
industry of India produce more than Hollywood in total. The quality will
also be better. The "Farewell from my concubine" is not a happy end as
you might think. I hope you can find Blockbuster everywhere in the US.
They carry all these stuffs.
"Co^ ga'i Tre^n So^ng" in my opinion was a good movie. Big criticisms
were there because people believe that Dda(.ng Nha^.t Minh wanted to
give a negative picture of the " Co^ ga'i So^ng Hu+o+ng" by To^' Hu+~u.
Dda(.ng Nha^.t Minh has a very good taste of film making. ( However, his
best product is also his daughter :)) If you were in Budapest at the
right time you could see)
In the US, few Asian writters and film makers have gathered in NYC and
committed with pushing the Asian related movies up. There is a huge market
The only problem is to find a good way to do. This industry is still
young for asians. To imitate Western styles or to follow Indian "Se^'n"
are not the way to go.
Maybe you don't have updated information of VN films. Recently,
unneccessary sex scenes become new dizzy in VNmese films. I think nudity
and sex are just tools to increase some effects and don't have any
objection to those. However, unnecessary use of them seems very odd and
cheap.

Cheers
Aiviet
