Re: Re: The Japanese

Hi all,

I recently met the well-known photographer Vo An Ninh. He is now 90
years old. Vo An Ninh had photographed many things in his career since
1930s. He has a huge collection of many historical events and i had the
opportunity to see some of his collection. The events of 1945 was
captured in his collection.

There are photographs that showed Japanese soldiers beating and
confiscating rices from peasants. Last year, a Japanese delegation who
came to Vietnam to make some documentaries during the war came to see Vo
An Ninh. They thanked him for some immensely valuable materials that he
has collected over the years. Vo An Ninh told me they were moved by many
pictures he showed them and they filmed the documentaries and these
showed irrefutable evidence of what happened.

Vo An Ninh is a energetic photographer. He also had some photographs of
the 1946-1950s events in Saigon, Hanoi during the Resistance war. He was
recently awarded Huan Chuong Doc Lap hang 3, Ho Chi Minh prize award..
His recent book of Vietnam sceneries was very popular and out of print.
His next book is a selection of 300s historical photographs from his
10,000s collection.

Cheers,

Hiep Nguyen
