Re: Re: Japan in WWII
Hi all & Anh Huy,
Thank you for your posting instead of me, because my mailer is Lotus
Notes, and not so good in handling.
Additionally, I think 80% we are standing same place, though we can find
some different points.

On reflection, I think that although in 1952 Vietnam was not independent
and its foreign policy had to be approved by France, only treaties that
depended on Vietnam being a colony of France are invalid, so I accept
that
Vietnam's signature in the SF treaty is valid.
Still, the North was not represented at all in the 1959 agreement
signed by the South. So it has no automatic validity for the whole
of Vietnam now.

I think it is normally successed by diplomatic world, so even debt from
US which Saigon government left have to be paid by the VNese government.
I think it is the same kind of issue. Or, do you have double standard
in dealing international relationship?

Also, in 1959, people might have known about the Japanese war crimes
but they did not know the full extent of the crimes. Many of the crimes
that the Japanese committed in other countries only surfaced recently.

>From 1950s to 1970s, CHDCVN did many appeal and propaganda which meant
to attach Japan, because at that time both countries were enemies. For
example General Giap, who saw the 1945 accident by himself from Viet
Bach area and his march to Hanoi, had been in power then, could point
out that point at that time. So, it is not true that they did not know
the full extent of the incident.

You see, all the Japanese War crime and criminals were judged at the
Tokyo trial hosted by the Allied powers. You will find an interesting
comment from India.
And what are the crimes which surfaced recently?

But we are talking Japanese war crimes here. When we're talking German
war
crimes, why would one talk about French, British and Hebrew war crimes?
Fairness or distraction?

You can easily find that talking about "Crimes" from one side draw
nothing but
bad feeling and in some cases cause hatred just like in Jerusalem. I
think we had better stop here and study more each other, and get better
understandings.
But you see,

Point (2) sounds as if you think we are after your money. Is this what
you
think of the victims of Japanese war crimes? This is adding insult to
injury.

I often find this kind of thinking in many VNese people. Why you think
in this way???
I think it is just like a defeatism which most of VNese including my
family must conquer.
