  I understand your points. In fact, it does not matter what name the 
instituition has. I don't try to degrade any instituition by clarifying 
the real meaning of the world. It is not a shame at all to graduate from 
a college or technical institute.
  The College of Amherst ranks as No 1 in the US. MIT, CAltech,..  are 
just institutes.
  And after all, it is your name that is more important than the name of 
the school. Who knows where Einstein or Kant graduated from.
Mike Faraday did not go to school at all.
