Russian songs/ Music nostalgia

It never occurred to me that "ti`nh nhu+ bo'ng ma^y" can be a Russian 
song; I think its melody is very much different from Russian melodies.

Agree. But it happened to me that "ti`nh nhu+ bo'ng ma^y" was in the same
bunch of "nha.c va`ng" ( how silly). At that time i often wondered how
came such romantic and soft songs while "binh ddoa`n 3 le? 7" was the
norm. I also confused these songs with some other songs by Tri.nh co^ng
so+n. Like this one:  "3 pha't aka bay dda^`u bo^' vo+.".... Southern 
folks would laugh at me but dont you see the very similarity in 
those melodies?

Speaking of Russian songs, the two songs I like the best are "Moscow 
Night" and "Million Roses". Anyone else loving these two songs out there?

"Moscow Night" (Do`ng so^ng tra('ng nhe. tro^i, tro^i ve^` phi'a cha^n 
tro+`i...?) seems to be very popular. If there were a contest for the 
most beloved Russian song, I think this one would take the trophy.

"Million Roses" has been translated into both Vietnamese and Hungarian
(do not know if English version exists). Either is beautiful.

Again you are not alone. They were my best two, too. This is not a surprise
given that how limited we vietnamese had exposed to foreign music at that
time. But i think what you mentioned "Moscow night" should be titled 
"Chie^`u Matxco+va". I can recall only this sentence "Chie^`u thanh
va+'ng la` dda^y......." and yes " nhi`n ba^`u tro+`i sao la^'p la'nh
tie^'ng ha't ai... a^n ti`nh". So maybe it's "Chie^`u to^'i Mat" :-)
I think this song best captures the very soul of Matxco+va. It was 
continuously daulting in my mind when i first walked down on Moscow streets. 
Romantic, wasn't it?

Yes they do have the english version of "Million roses". Exactly this
name. This english version has been very popular in vietnam among karaokers.
Here in south korea they are beginning to fancy stuffs like "Cachiusa",....

Funny, In 1993 I practiced my poor English by reading an abridge version 
of "Love Story". The music was cool. I was not impressed by the story.
Later I watched the film, and was impressed by the main actress, the one 
who played the sick girl.

I was, however, pretty moved by the story. I have never watched that movie
but i first read the story( as an attempt to practice english) in 1994.
I was extremely touched at the moment when Jenny was dead and the father came
to say sorry to the guy at the hospital. And the words of the ill-fated girl
ending the story: "Love never means to say i am sorry". The low, sad tone
thoughout the story also did. 
There was a "Post-Love story" also by the very same author talking about
the same guy. This story, however, is very disapointed.

Also, "Hotel California" is a cool song. I forget exactly what in a hotel
this song is about, but certainly not about the first love-making of a
teenager, the topic of the Hungarian version of the song
:-).

I guess upon hearing lo~m bo~m the lyrics of this song that it sounds more 
like a celebrating mood in california. (Wish i would have a chance to go 
there to see "dark desert highway, cool wind of my hair....
and once you go there, you could never leave......".) Anyone could
clarify the meaning of this song?
The guitar play at the end of the song is thrilled.

Anyone out there who likes "Still get the blues for you" of Gary Moore,
"Holiday" of Scorpions, "Nothing else matters" of Mettalica, and "Don't 
cry" of Gun 'n Roses? Kind of nostalgia for me remembering these songs.

Again the guitar play of "Still got the blues" is brilliant.
"Holiday" was always ba`i tu? of guys playing guitar(at home) on the 
occasions of birthday at Da.i ho.c ngoa.i ngu+~, dda.i ho.c su+ pha.m cu?a
ca'c chi. em. These girls would wide open their eyes with admiration
to those guys. I really hated that, 'cause i couldn't play guitar :-)

"Nothing else matters", "Don't cry tonight",.... Wow, anh Ha?i you
make me fly high. I am remembering of birthdays of friends in
Hanoi. About ten to twenty of us were flocking in small rooms at
Gia?ng vo~, tha`nh co^ng apartments ( where we rented) and enjoyed these
song in the smoke of cigarettes and cheap "student beer" bought from
chu`a bo^.c. I guess these songs are still very popular among students
at home.   

BTW anyone out there who likes pink, g.e.m, pearl jam,.... some of my
favorites.
