Binoche/Hoffman

I'm not a fan of her, but one of her recent movies titled "Three colors: Blues"
was a wonderful experience for me. Despite the fact that I would pay more
credit to the director than all the cast themselves, I think this movie
was indeed her international break-through. I would recommend you to watch
all three episodes of the "Three Colors" trilogy (simply titled "Blue",
"White", and "Red" - the colors of the French flag which symbolize liberty,
equality, and fraternity), all directed by the great Polish filmdirector
Kieslowski. I think these are kind of more popular art movies, and they are
more accessible to the public, even here in the States. IMHO, "White" is mediocre,
"Blue" is great, and "Read" is perfect. Check them out if you can! BTW, "Red"
was filmed in Geneva, Switzerland, so I guess it must be very popular
over there, right?
About Dustin Hoffman, what do you think of "Midnight Cowboy", a stunning
movie made in '69? Before that he also played in "The Graduate" - it's
a must-see for romantic folks who also love Simon-Grafunkel music.
BTW, I still somehow enjoy "Kramer vs. Kramer" or "Tootsie", but
"Rain Man" is a failure to me. His performance, along with Tom Cruise's,
was great, but the whole movie didn't work out for me. The style is
too formal, typical of Hollywood movies. Well I know I'm into different genres
these days :-)
Bye for now,
