Hi ba'c Hu`ng et al

Vietname fought alone against France during the rather hopeless 1946-1950
period. The only countable external help at the time was probably from
communist Chinese, led by Mao who was also busy fighting Kuong Min Tang
( sp?) led by Tu+o+?ng Gio+'i Tha.ch.

The SU was NOT the first to recognize the struggling Vietnam Democratic
Republics. Not until the China did in 1950. Remember that Mao Tse Sung
gained his power over China only in 1949.

President HCM was very struggling in gaining recognitions and helps
from Russia. About this matter, I think North Korea's Kim Il-sung did
better than HCM, of course because of North Korea's more strategically
important geopolitical position.

Vietnam was beginning to receive massive helps from the Soviet Union,
i.e, gaining her significances in Khrutsov's calculating table
only after the America did the same to South Vietnam. That was due to the
envision of a communist expansionism in South and Southeast Asia.

No Russian presidents ( and/or General Secretary of Russian Communist Party)
has ever set foot on Vietnam. Even on the occasion of HCM's
death, which I see as a indication of disrepect of the Russians toward
(North) Vietnamese. The Chinese did not respect us neither, but
diplomatically, they are just more subtle and superior than the
Russians.

And as you has pointed out, Russia was just as reluctant as anyone else
seeing the brief but bloody invasion by China in 1979.

So here again we have to get back to the ever-lasting lession. No one
is willing to help us on our behalf unless we do it ourself.
The Russians was just as unfaithful as the Chinese.
The only little difference among them is how (generous ...) they treated us
during "friendly periods".

Now we are "making friends with everyone in the world". That means
we dont fight each other. But on the other side of the coin, that also means
we should try to take the best out of them. Take advantages of them.
Just as they are doing the same to us. Cha+?ng ha.n nhu+ ba'c Lie^u

co' nghi~a la` dda.t ddu+o+.c mo^.t A++ ro^`i ddo'.

Finally I wholeheartedly agree with chi. Kha'nh Tra^`n in saying this:
Vietnam first, America ( Russia, China, Japan, Hungary, etc,....) second.
