<14> mea culpa, re: <13> [humor] small collection...
NYU Linguistic String Project -- Fri Jun 20 13:38:59 EDT 1997
Dear Anh Ai Viet and Tien Zung,
mea culpa... it all started when I missed "boys" -> "girls" for
BASIC. I saw it when I sent it out but wondered if anybody
caught the *unintended* goddamn editing error... But the error
says nothing about homosexuality or latency or romance or
anything... We just all guess and are trying to have fun, when
things that we think can only be attributed to women, and find
out that they are even more *shocking* if we see them in men.
I think *natural languages* are like women, and *programming
languages* are like men. It is even more interesting when
men working with *programming languages* and thinking of them
as having *femine* characteristics (so,... in some twisted
rationale, we can say that kind of thinking is *subsconsciously*
BASIC, or latent or h..., if you like).
Cheers,
Nhan
