The official ICC rules for the interpretation of trade terms

The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) announces that its standard
commercial terms, Incoterms 1990, are being revised in line with
developments in commercial practice. International trading companies,
chambers of commerce, government trade departments, members of the legal
profession and other interested parties should note that the new Incoterms
2000, to be officially released at the end of September 1999, will come into
force on 1 January 2000.

Incoterms, defining the respective responsibilities of buyer and seller in
international sales contracts, are in constant daily use throughout the
world. Examples are FOB (. named port of shipment), CIF (. named port of
destination) and DDU (. named place of destination). As soon as the new
terms are published, they may be incorporated in contracts, using the
reference "Incoterms 2000". However, Incoterms 1990 remain valid until the
end of 1999.

Incoterms 2000, are the official ICC rules for the interpretation of trade
terms. Their authenticity is recognized by courts and other authorities
throughout the world. Their incorporation in sales contracts reduces the
risk of misunderstandings that could lead to legal complications.

Incoterms is an ICC trademark and is also protected by copyright.
