I went to see this movie because it is one of the few books I have actually read. I didn't think that the movie would live up to the expectations of the book, but I thought they did a good job of leaving out details that were irrelevant. The main character is very relatable and that makes for an easy to watch film. The soundtrack is above average, but there were times where the movie felt a little too cliché. Nonetheless, the movie felt like it came to a conclusion that wasn't completely cliché while still being satisfying.
One thing of note from this movie was the character Ben played by Austin Abrams. He was good for a decent amount of comic relief and really changed the mood when things got a little too serious. I would honestly look for him to earn some more roles based on this film because he was incredibly versatile.
In the end I gave this movie a 9 because it was a truly enjoyable movie that I would definitely recommend. Although the theater was packed with rather annoying adolescent girls, I think there were many layers to the film. I do tend to like a coming -of-age romance story, but this movie is different enough to enjoy past the levels of movies like The Fault in Our Stars.
