When a group of friends enjoying a bachelor cruise in the Caribbean stumble upon a research facility on a remote island, a deadly virus is unleashed. The group must find a way to survive before the flesh eating virus consumes them all.
Two teenage couples traveling across the backwoods of Texas searching for urban legends of murder end up as prisoners of a bizarre and sadistic backwater family of serial killers.
The college friends Paul, Karen, Bert, Marcy and Jeff rent an isolated cabin in the woods to spend a week together. When they arrive, a man contaminated with a weird disease asks for help to them, but they get in panic and burn the man, who falls in the water reservoir and dies. The whole group, except Karen, makes a pact of drinking only beer along the week without knowing where the dead body is. When Karen drinks tap water and gets the disease, the group begins their journey to hell. Written by

The audition scene the producers chose for actresses who wanted to play Marcy was her notorious "It's like being on a plane..." scene, in which Marcy compares her dire situation to being on a plane doomed to crash. This was an unfortunate choice, on the part of the producers, as was the scheduled date for the auditions; September 11, 2001. The producers made efforts to call off the auditions, but due to the general chaos gripping the US that day, they found it impossible to contact many of the actresses before their scheduled audition times. Consequently, the auditions went ahead as planned. Cerina Vincent's portrayal of this scene won her the role of Marcy. See more »

I saw this film at the Toronto International Film Festival (sept 02), and i was thoroughly impressed - of the 42 movies i saw, this was the best (even better than Bubba Ho-Tep, and i am a HUGE Bruce Campell fan). If you like movies like the Evil Dead trilogy, Last House on the Left, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre, you will love this movie. The acting is surprisingly good for a bunch of nobodies, the story is very well developed (even a few really funny jokes, always good in horror), and the gore is INCREDIBLE! For those of you that miss the extreme gore of the 70s and early 80s, you will not want to miss this film. If you like absurd, black humor, you might also enjoy it a lot. And if you want a change from the standard slasher in the woods as the villain, definitely check this out. I'm predicting this will be the best horror movie of the year.
