When Gabriel knocks on Einstein's door the neighbour complains "Why don't you people go to his office?" This indicates a number of people have been knocking on Einstein's door. Were there other time travellers, Visiting Einstein for similar reasons to Gabriel? This isn't unreasonable. Once one scientist has made a breakthrough, other scientists, often unconnected with the first, start to make similar breakthroughs. See more »

When the grandfather is explaining to the son what he thinks happened to the
boy's father, the grandfather makes a comment to the effect that he doesn't understand it all because he's not 'a specialist in quantum mechanics'. This movie deals with time travel and relativity, not quantum mechanics. Relativity deals with the large scale and quantum mechanics deals with the small scale. The reconciliation of the two has been the holy grail of physics, 'Unified Field Theory'. To object that one doesn't understand time travel because one is not a quantum mechanic is nonsensical. No physics professor would make that mistake. See more »

This came on TV the other day and I had nothing else to do. I didn't know what the movie was about, or who the actors were. I recognized Haley Joel Osment, and kind of did a double take. (More of the "Yikes. Has it been that long?" kind.) The story is a sci-fantasy story, but that's not the driving factor. There is little (almost none) in the way of special effects, and it doesn't need it. The plot centers around Erol, whose father left for a conference, and disappeared. But there is more to it than just a disappearance, and with his grandfather he figures it all out. I thought the acting could have been better in places, as it was very character driven. I won't put spoilers, but I didn't see the ending coming. Definitely worth getting the popcorn out for.
