The Russo family and friends are headed to Tuscany, Italy, to meet their long lost relatives... but when Alex tries to prove she's more than a seemingly carefree young Wizard, she inadvertently conjures a spell that creates a Good Alex and an Evil Alex. When Evil Alex gets roped into a charming young wizard's foreboding plan to take over the world, Good Alex must find a way to save her family and humankind, which leads to a monumental battle between the two versions of herself - all atop the Tower of Pisa. Written by Disney
As a fan of the show, I did enjoy this movie/special but it wasn't what I expected.
I still haven't seen the last season/last few episodes of the show but I have been an avid watcher since the start. When it came closer to the wizard competition, I think we all knew that it would be Alex who became the family wizard. I also think we all know it should have been Justin who won the competition and became the family wizard. But, of course, Disney wanted the main star of the show to get all the attention. Alright, I understand this.
What I don't understand is why they made Alex the way she is. Maybe because they wanted her to be more interesting? Maybe so that she can get into a lot of crazy story lines for future movies and specials? This is what is ruining WoW as an overall series. Alex vs Alex could have been good if it wasn't just the same BS from the show.
This is what I think SHOULD have happened in Alex vs Alex. At the end, where Alex is getting praised for saving the world again, I think she should have instead been punished. Her powers should have been taken away for good and given to Justin. (Justin should have been in the movie the entire time helping Alex.) That would make the most sense and could actually put an end to the series.
I thought the writing was pretty terrible and the acting was pretty bad but I've come to expect this from Disney movies/specials. I just don't think the WoW show was ever THIS bad even near the end.
