Siberia 1953: Ilsa is now working in a Gulag prison camp. Her mission is to "retrain the minds" of those who don't agree with the Communists. But prisoner, Yakurin, is more difficult than the others. Ilsa is not one to give up, though. "We will break you", she promises. However, when Stalin dies, the camp closes down, Ilsa and the guards kill the prisoners and leave. But Yakurin survives. In 1977, Yakurin is the coach of the Soviet boxing team, and on a visit in Montreal, he lets the boxers visit a brothel. The owner of the brothel is Ilsa and her colleagues are from the Gulag camp. Ilsa sees Yakurin and wants a second chance to finish "breaking" him, and Yakurin wants to get revenge... Written by Calle
I'm going to differ from a lot of people here, in that I actually prefer this one to the more notorious original. For me, the things that other people criticised were actually pluses. For example, its far less tasteless than She Wolf Of The SS, I'm not saying that using a gulag as a setting for sleazy entertainment isn't tasteless but this one doesn't focus on the degradation of women which makes it much less skin crawling and mean. The gulag scenes are predictably cold and violent with the odd fight and a sweet use of a chainsaw. This only takes up about 40 minutes or so, because then the action moves to Montreal and the film metamorphoses into more of an espionage/action movie, only retaining the sleazy sex. Many dislike this latter portion of the film but I found it a blast. For one, there's a good amount of sex and nudity just about throughout and secondly the action orientated moments actually deliver a real nice amount of bloodshed. In fact I'm pretty sure its bloodier than She Wolf Of The SS, though the violence on the whole is much less vicious. Another plus for me was that Dyanne Thorne is actually a bit more convincing, in my mind at least, when she isn't trying to be uber nasty, like in She Wolf, but just villainous. Shes totally stunning and often nude, but her performance is less chuckle inducingly over the top. Not to say that Tigress of Siberia isn't pretty amusing at times but the amusement works a lot better because the subject matter is less ghastly so it doesn't feel as wrong to be laughing. I can't say much for the acting, it all seemed a mixture of functional and bad, about average for this kind of film. Everything else technical I thought was pretty fine, nothing spectacular but no noticeable errors and a constant good pace kept this a gripping experience. In all, I would recommend this too sleazy exploitation lovers and fans of Dyanne Thorne, especially those that found the predecessors a bit off putting at times. It may not have as much savage impact or as much filth, but it is dang fine whack job dirty entertainment with sex, gore and lots going on. Good times.
