Trivia
Despite those named in the credits, the film went through another draft by
Kevin Jarre. In one draft, Hawkins (
Charlie Sheen) sacrifices himself to rescue Curran (
Michael Biehn), who ends up with the love interest. In another version, Curran is killed off rescuing some kids, and Hawkins and Claire Varrens (
Joanne Whalley) are left to mourn his passing. Also in one of those drafts, Curran is an accomplished boxer who squares off in a fight with Hawkins, who's into karate. The golf sequence in the film was a concession when the film's leads objected to a
Top Gun (1986)-style scene with knife-throwing contests and bikini bimbos.

Goofs
During the flight from Cyrpus to Lebanon, just 250 km ESE of Cyprus, the sun keeps changing position. In many of the scenes the sun is on the horizon forward and slightly on the port side of the aircraft, meaning the sun is in the east (dawn). When the rear door opens the sun is astern, i.e, in the west (dusk).

The film was better than I expected, I didn't think I'd enjoy it that much. I only bought it because I knew Michael Biehn was in it, but I really enjoyed the film. The highlight being when Biehn has had the morphine, he is a joy to watch in that car chase. Charlie Sheen's character was annoying and Bill Paxton was wasted. A good blast!
