Watched this tonite with friends and despite the bad and negative reviews, both here and elsewhere, we enjoyed it. At 2 hours and 6 minutes it was long enough to build it's story with a fair amount of pacing. Save the 90 minute formula for the romantic comedies. Excellent cinematography (the best thing in the movie), very believable set design (especially the "downtown" scene 3/4 in) thru to dismal sometimes nonsensical soundtrack work amounts to an uneven but in my opinion, worthy view. My Leonard Maltin book gave it a 2 out of 4 star review, mediocre. BUT, too often we as end-user movie buying/watching consumers can be too jaded. While watching this movie we wondered what Hollywood would do with this one if it was ever remade. Probably much shorter scenes, more copious editing, a blaring "current" soundtrack and tons of young star power. Let's hope it NEVER happens!
