    Crystalfrost's path chapter 4!!!

"Now this is the border with Windclan. Be sure to remember their dry, musky scent." Goldenfang meowed. She and Crystalpaw were out exploring the territory with Hollypelt and Mintpaw.
"This here is the Thunderclan border. What does it smell like?" Goldenfang asked.
"Wet-ish and leafy." Crystalpaw reported after tasting the air. "Good. Now, we don't share a border with Riverclan. Try scenting our territory." Crystalpaw turned and scented the air.
"I thought you said we didn't share a border with Riverclan." She said wrinkling her nose. "I did." Goldenfang said with an edge of irratation in her voice. "Then what's that aweful smell?" Crystalpaw asked, confused. Goldenfang tasted the air, then froze. "Hollypelt, take Crystalpaw and Mintpaw back to camp and get a patrol. Looks like we have a fox on Shadowclan territory." She said in a low voice. "Go!" Crystalpaw felt like she had never ran as fast in her life. When they got to camp, everyone was looking at them. "What happened?" "Where's Goldenfang?" "Quiet it down, I'm trying to clean out the elder's den, in case anyone bothered to notice." Hazelpaw's bossy voice broke in. "There's a fox on Shadowclan territory!" Hollypelt announce. "Jayclaw, Amberpaw, you two will go. So will Barkpaw and Hollypelt." Duskstar said. "Apprentices? To go catch foxes? I'd like to see how that works." Blacktail snorted. "You know very well that their alnost ready for their final assesment." Duskstar said firmly. "Now go!" He looked at the cats chosen to fight the foxes. They dashed off, leaving behind the now silent camp. "You're so lucky! You get to go seaching for foxes while I have to clean out the elder's den." Hazelpaw said, annoyed. "We weren't exactly going out searching for foxes, I just happened to scent this one-" "Oh, so you scented it? Of course, you little show off. Now get out of my fur and let me work!" He said interrupting Crystalpaw. "What's the matter?" Mintpaw meowed coming up behind her. "Hazelpaw. He thinks I'm a show off, and he thinks I'm in his fur!" Crystalpaw said, her voice raising. "Oh, don't worry about that bossy furball. He's got ants in his fur!" Mintpaw said firmly, suprising Crystalpaw. *** "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the high stone for a clan meeting!" Duskstar called the next sunrise. "The fox is dead. All is well." Crystalpaw thought he would dismiss, but he continued. "Amberpaw and Barkpaw fought like real warriors. Step foward." The two older apprentices stepped towards Duskstar. "Barkpaw. Do you promise to support and uphold the warrior code, even at the cost of your life?" I do." Barkpaw answered firmly. "Then I give you your warrior name. From this moment foward, you will be known as Barkclaw." Duskstar rested his head on Barkclaw, and the new warrior gave his shoulder a respectful lick. "Amberpaw, do you promise to support and uphold the warrior code, even at the cost of your life?" "I do." "Then I give you your warrior name. From this moment foward, you will be Amberpool." Duskstar rested his head on her, and Amberpool also gave his shoulder a respectful lick. "Barkclaw! Amberpool! Barkclaw! Amberpool!" The clan cheered. Yet Duskstar was not done. "I hear that the one who actually scented the fox was Crystalpaw. I want the clan to reconise her as a loyal and strong nosed Shadowclan apprentice. Hazelpaw glared at her, but Crystalpaw ignored him. She felt so happy. (End of chapter 4)
