    Great Book

I am a college student taking the Visual Basic courses. This book along with their beginning book are great. They are easy to read and understand. Also, anyone with half a brain can understand what to do to make the solutions from the CD work!

Geat textbook for a course or self study

This is a teaching book meant for use in order, chapter 1 to 14, not a reference for a quick look up of a subject. It not only teaches the 'how to' but more importantly the 'why' which is more important for a developer¿s career. It assumes the reader is comfortable developing self contained, programs with Visual Basic in the Studio setting. It teaches concepts and uses code examples to demonstrate teachings rather than just go through code highlighting key points. Areas covered in early chapters may not be used in the real world but they teach foundations for the ¿real¿ stuff in later chapters. Having done most every ¿Programming Exercise¿ as a student for all chapters, I find that all my errors could be solved reading within the chapter or examining the included CD code. ¿Case Studies¿, homework at the end of each chapter, DO make requests beyond the teaching in the book so beware of those. I can¿t wait to use this as a text when I teach a VB course.

    Not a good book

This is a terrible book. I used this book for an on-line class. the instructor had to re-write every exercise becuase none of the author's solutions worked. The book doesn't explain anything. Don't waste your money.
