There are way too many errors in the code examples of this book. Check the book's website forums for proof. It is is a good book to read, but the errors are hard to debug when its their examples that are wrong.

I'm a self-taught programmer in PHP and consider myself a mildly advanced in it. A lot of it I already knew, but it covered in detail and I learned a lot about what I had already known. It includes a lits of PHP functions, a quick reference for MySQL, and goes through step by step to installing a functional developmental environment.
