Matching a child with a book—one she will enjoy and be motivated to read—is a challenge. Matching a class full of children with such books is an even greater undertaking, but this is just the challenge facing teachers and media specialists every day.

What if there were a reliable tool? One that put thousands of quality titles at your fingertips? One that could sort these titles for you, depending on your need? One that made matching children and books simple?

The Children's Literature Database contains more than 15,000 titles for young readers selected from many awards lists, "best book" compilations, recommended lists, lists of "classics," and our own reading experiences. More than 80 awards are included in the database: national awards presented by various library and educational organizations, awards decided by children, as well as many international awards. Menus and buttons allow you to proceed with just a few mouse clicks or keystrokes.

• View and search each book by any of eleven fields: author, illustrator, title, publisher, copyright year, grade level, genre, description, topics, awards, comments.
• Further refine sets of books (when all Civil War titles are highlighted, for instance, that list may be reduced to picture books about the Civil War or Civil War books appropriate for grades 5-6).
• Save specific sets of titles for future consultation.
