Asuman Dogac is a professor and the director of Software Research and Development Center at the Computer Engineering Department at the Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey. Her current research interests include electronic commerce, workflow systems and distributed object computing. M. Tamer Ozsu is a professor of computing science at the University of Alberta where he leads research groups on distributed object management, multimedia data management and information system interoperability. He has authored and edited four books and a large number of papers. He serves on the editorial boards of the VLDB Journal and Journal of Distributed and Parallel Databases and has completed a four-year term on the editorial board of Parallel and Distributed Technology. He serves on the board of the VLDB Endowment and is a member of ACM and IEEE Computer Society. Ozgur Ulusoy received a B.S. degree from the Middle East Technical University, Akara, Turkey, an M.S. from Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey, and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1986, 1988 and 1992, respectively. He is currently an Assistant Professor at Bilkent University. His research interests include various fields of Database Management Systems. Dr. Ulusoy has served on numerous program committees for conferences, including his co-chairmanship of the first International Workshop on Issues and Applications on Database Technology, and edited a special issue on real-time databases in the Information Systems Journal. He has published more than 30 articles in various journals and conference proceedings. He is a member of the ACM and IEEE Computer Society.
