The DBPL Workshops have been held every other year since 1987. They are closely related to the series of International Workshop on Persistent Object Systems (POS) which take place on alternate years. The DBPL Workshops provide an important forum for discussion in a field which combines the key technologies for the future of data-intensive systems. The papers presented at DBPL-5 concentrate mainly on language and model issues. Among the specific topics covered are: data modelling, programming constructs, cooperative, temporal and active databases, data exchange formats, and implementation issues. The full papers from DBPL-5 are available on-line at: http://www.springer.co.uk/eWiC/Workshops/DBPL5.html This booklet provides the passwords needed to access the web site. Purchasing the booklet provides the user with unlimited access to the site for four years (subject, of course, to entry of the correct passwords each time).
