(Geographic Object-Oriented Database System) has been created in the framework of the Basic Research Actions program to address research topics directly related to geographic information systems. This proceedings volume comprises two invited papers and thirteen contributed papers presented at the International Workshop on Database Management Systems for Geographical Applications, Capri,
