Getting my computer infected by a virus is a very scary experience I don't want to happen again. I already had it fixed, and thank heavens, all of my data were restored. But what if, God forbid, another similar thing might happen again? Of course I don't want to put all of my important data at stake. Reading this book helped me understand everything about keeping back ups for my data and recovering them in case something goes wrong. Equipping myself with this knowledge beforehand, makes me feel confident. I can immediately trouble shoot and recover my files and data myself even in the wee hours of the night when there is no computer technician I can get to fix my computer and recover my data quickly. This book is very informative even for the average user. It covers everything from preventing data loss to keeping back up and recovering them, even goes to the extent of recovering data in case backups have not been up to date or not performed. It even gives scenarios that create the problems of lost data, hardware failures and viruses, as being some of the causes. It also gives an honest assessment that sometimes data just cannot be recovered due to the nature of the malfunctions. To sum it all up, I would say that all computer users - especially professionals and students who keep their work files, data and research notes on their computers - should have this book included in their valued book collection.
