This Book is NOT for beginners or for Self-Training

This book is useful as a reference book. If one is very familiar with Cognos 8, then this book is okay. If you are a beginner and need a book to learn Cognos from the ground up or need a self-training book, DO NOT use this book. Find another one or take a training class.

The author assumes too much. The book is written as though one is very familiar with Cognos and just needs tips and reminders on how to do something. There is nothing to show how to do something step-by-step. Everything is written in generalities.
