I bought this book thinking that after my bad experience with Mr. Viescas Access 97 book I had purchased during the late 90's things would have improved dramatically. In my opinion, I was wrong. His original book was confusing on many fronts and this book seems to follow his old habits. Some of the examples he uses in the Application Design Strategy (Chapter 3) in the early part of the book do not closely follow the illustrations he uses and make it difficult if not hard to assimilate. The companion CD DOES NOT contain the Task Worksheets so you'll have to create them from scratch if you want to use his methodology. In my opinion it's a shame this book does not live up to it's potential - just like the Access 97 version I bought previously. I wrote to Microsoft Press to see if I could download the missing documents and that was also a waste of time. Other parts of the book seem to be relatively informative but I haven't got there yet so that still remains to be seen.

This is more like a reference manual than a textbook. Perhaps I am more of a "Dummies" book kind of student but I found this book extremely had to read and use. I wish that software books were given more user friendly indexes. The descriptions or titles used in the text or software never seem to be used in the index making things very hard to find.
