Overview

Oracle 10g: Database Administrator: Implementation and Administration (DBA1) uses the most current database release from Oracle to provide thorough coverage of an Oracle database through the day-to-day duties of a database administrator. This real-world approach, combined with topics ranging from initialization parameters and table space storage to data integrity, constraints, and user profiles, provides good preparation for the update Oracle certification exam, Database Fundamentals I (#1Z0-041). In addition to extensive review material, the end of chapter content also includes comprehensive coverage of the exam objectives and exam-like practice questions.

    Not a good learning tool

I do not recommend this book for anyone trying to learn Oracle Administration. This book is very vague, and just mentions some subjects as in passing, then expects that you are able to perform exercises. Also, book seems written in wrong order. Starts off with and moves into complex items, then finally addresses basics in the middle to higher chapters Maybe okay for someone just trying to review what they already know.

Don't waste your money unless your buying frustration!

I purchased this book as a required text for an Oracle class. This book has been a source of aggravation for the entire class. It is written to provide minimal detail and brief overviews. When completing the hands-on projects at the end of each chapter, the assignments require more knowledge than is provided in the chapter reading, requiring endless amounts of time researching the internet. The chapters are out of order, and jumps around frequently. Here is an example, Chapter 4 requires you to write a SQL command, and chapter 8 actually goes through the command in 'some what' detail with the appropriate syntax. Honestly try a different book if at all possible no one should have to suffer through this book.
