An Excellent resource for Oracle Discoverer

Michael and Darlene has done an excellent job in giving complete information starting from scratch to a full-fledge Oracle Discoverer. I like their presentation and the language is very simple to use. I would say a Oracle expert to a new bee, every one will gain from this book. This is the first book that ever published on Oracle Discoverer. Part I explains the overview of Discoverer and its architecture. Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 provide good explanation on Getting started with Users and Databases, and Getting started with Discoverer. Part II has explained Editing the query in very great detail. Formatting the output in SQLPLUS is one very pleasant chapter and it has lot many tips for sqlplus users. Tuning a Discoverer query into a report is well explained in Chapter 8. The chapters deal with reporting are very useful and has complete information about taking advantages of Discoverer. Part III - Advanced Discoverer Techniques has very extensive information about building effecting condition and advanced handling of parameters and arithmetic operations.I personally liked the Chapter 14 which is about Query Management. Part IV- very well explains Using the Discoverer Administration Edition. It fully explains the Administration edition features starting from scratch and topics like editing the business areas, interacting with the end user and configuring the Discoverer. Overall, this book is above my expectations and a very valuable resource on Oracle Discoverer. I recommend this book to any Oracle user who works with Discoverer and Reporting very often.
