    I recommend this book

Alessi has written a very concise guide to developing data-oriented applications for iOS. It's complete and easy to read, but it works on several levels. I don't think an absolute beginner would understand all the design patterns and architecture, but the code is here that can be modified to your needs with no more than basic object oriented programming experience. Experienced professionals will get the higher level discussion that's along side the working code examples and will be able to build complex data-driven applications given the insights gained. If you have some experience developing with object oriented language, especially C/C++, you'll quickly learn basic iOS application development by working through Alessi's book.
