Read an Excerpt

DMO, DTS and NS are the latest developments in SQL Server which provide powerful tools to the database. SQL-DMO is one of the outstanding innovations in SQL Server 7. Data Management Objects (DMO) is a COM representation of the internal SQL Server objects. This gives both administrators and programmers unprecedented control over the structure of a SQL Server database. Data Transaction Services (DTS) enables replication aross multiple databases and to build tools using MSDE, the database engine, and to use within applications. Therefore allowing greater customisation for applications. The SQL-NS can be used to give an application access to many of the same user interface elements (such as property pages and wizards) that are available in SQL Server Enterprise Manager. Combined these tools allow direct access and greater flexibility for databases where scalability and security in the enterprise environment is essential. This book meets the demand for documentation in this area, allowing programmers to get to grips with this technology.

This book is for Systems adminstrators who want an introduction to DMO and programming to enable them to move beyond the constraints of T-SQL. For VB and other developers who want to apply their knowledge to the SQL Server Environment.
