"The professional activities open to a trained statistician
are quite varied. The existence of modern-day computers relieves the
statistician of tedious computations and elevates his professional activity
to dealing with people and/or engaging in basic research . . . Many
graduate majors in statistics have majored in some other area as
undergraduates. If the student has had mathematics through calculus and 12
additional credits in mathematics and/or statistics, the masters degree in
statistics can be earned in the normal time."
