"The concentration in Business Data Analysis is intended for
students who wish to add a strong quantitative component to the general
knowledge provided by the MBA common body and distribution courses, and the
graduate certificate in Business Data Analysis is intended for persons with
a statistical background equivalent to that of basic business statistics
who wish to enhance their training in quantitative analysis. The
concentration gives a good research preparation to persons interested in
pursuing a Ph.D. in business. . . . Why should I Pursue a BDA
Concentration/Certificate? BDA is a booming area, jobs in BDA are
plentiful, BDA professionals visit the campus, build a marketable tool kit
of statistical techniques, [Bentley teaches with a] hands-on approach,
develop expertise at statistical packages."

"The Mathematics Department's program has three major
emphases; Probability, Mathematical Statistics and Applied Statistics.
Masters and doctoral students may specialize in any of the three areas.
Those interested in statistics are given consultation activities, in
addition to course work and seminars, to help develop skills in performing
statistical activities in the real world."

"The M.A. program is aimed primarily at the student with the
equivalent of a B.A. or its international equivalent who wishes to pursue
advanced study in the theory and methods of biostatistics. The Ph.D.
program in biostatistics is geared towards the graduate student who seeks a
career as a professional, academic, or industrial researcher in the
biomedical and epidemiologic Science. The program meets the needs of the
health professional who wishes to continue with public health training and
achieve a higher and more specialized degree, and the statistician who
wishes to specialize in statistical methods for biomedical and
epidemiological applications."

"The Department of Statistics offers courses of study
leading to both the A.M. and Ph.D. degrees. The Department encourages
applications from students with strong mathematical backgrounds who plan to
concentrate on theoretical statistics, students with training in
substantive fields whose primary interest is in applied statistics, and
students whose backgrounds and interests lie between these two extremes. Inaddition to formal course work and thesis research, students are encouraged to w
ork closely with faculty and to attend seminars concerning current problems
in empirical research and thereby to gain experience with interdisciplinary
statistical research and consulting."

"The programs in the Department of Biostatistics prepare
students to contribute to the theory and practice of Statistical Science as
applied to health. The department's research in statistical methods and its
interdisciplinary collaborations provide many opportunities for student
participation. The faculty includes leaders in the development of
statistical methods for clinical trials, observational studies, studies on
the environment, animal studies, longitudinal studies, and other areas. The
school and the department have computing facilities which support all the
commonly used statistical packages."

"The Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers both
the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees with options in Statistics. The M.S. option in
Statistics is designed to provide students with a blend of applied
statistics, statistical computing, and basic theory, preparing them for
positions in industry, government, etc., and for further study in
Statistics or other quantitative areas. The Ph.D. has similar objectives,
but includes more advanced statistical theory to prepare students for both
academic and nonacademic positions. In addition to courses within the
department, students have access to a number of courses offered by other
departments on campus. The University's Statistical Consulting Center
offers the opportunity for students to complement their studies with
exposure to real-world problems."
