"The M.S. and Ph.D. programs combine the study of
statistical theory with training in applied statistics. The M.S. program
provides a blend of course work with experience in problem solving and
computational statistics. Graduate students participate in a statistical
consulting program through which they gain valuable practical experience
working with researchers in many fields. The Ph.D. program provides
advanced training in statistical theory and develops the capacity for
individual research. Graduates are qualified for positions in government,
industry and academia. Faculty areas include biometry, biostatistics,
computer graphics, experimental design, geostatistics, linear models,
mathematical statistics, multivariate analysis, nonparametrics,
psychometrics, response surface models, and stochastic
processes."

"The University of Montana's Department of Mathematical
Science offers the Master of Arts, Master of Arts for teachers and doctoral
degrees. As a relatively small department with diverse interests, we have a
well-rounded program and considerable interaction among faculty and
students. Our graduates find positions in academia, government, and
business around the world."
