"The Institute of Statistics and Decision Science offers
graduate study leading to the Ph.D. degree in statistics. It also offers
the M.S. degree to students pursuing a Ph.D. degree in the institute or in
another department at Duke. The institute is a regular teaching and
research department of the University that is internationally recognized as
a center of research in theoretical and applied statistics. The faculty are
active in the areas of Bayesian statistics and decision science ,
statistical computing, and interdisciplinary applications of statistics.

complies with the ASA guidelines by providing courses specifically designed
for undergraduate statistics majors. A challenging accelerated BS-MS
program is also offered. A large faculty with varied research and
consulting interests supports graduate programs that blend the theory,
methods and practice of statistics. Optional concentrations in
environmental, industrial and genetic statistics are offered. In support of
