Point Analysis using Markers

In general, little may be known about the precise location of genes controlling a particular trait, much less the genotype of those genes. It is possible to use the genetic markers spread across the genome to associate traits with approximate loci. In fact, early researchers used this approach, calling it point analysis (cf. tank:1993). While this approach does not assume that the markers have been organized into a genetic linkage map, such an arrangement can enhance interpretation.
