Company Experiment
A manufacturer wants to measure the `quality' of a product by
using the ratio of the maximum to minimum diameter of a particular
hole punched in plastic (the ratio should ideally be
1.000+/-0.001). Rather than record this value, which is costly to
measure, each product line is given a visual score between 0 and 100
as to its quality.
The parts in question are of several types (A,B,C) and are
manufactured using steel from several companies (1-5). In
addition, the hole punch may occur at one of two sites in the
manufacturing plant. Four replicates were collected for each
combination of type, company and site in a completely randomized
design for a total of 120 measurements.
