About me
I am a recent grad of UW-Madison(Computer Science, Philosophy, and Studio Art) My academic and professional interests are greatly influenced by the Effective Altruism movement, including areas such as artificial intelligence, more effective human-computer interaction and making computing more accessible to all - my ideal project is working on improving transparency and data visualization of vast AI systems, allowing engineers and non-technical people alike to better understand and trust such systems. I aspire for a technical career that truly helps others - ideally in software development - and am considering pursuing a graduate degree in the future.
Outside of my academic/professional life - I am very into music, I am constantly listening to and discovering new music! I also play a variety of instruments(guitar, drums, etc.) and enjoy composing and producing. I love connecting with other people through music, it truly is a universal language and sparks joy wherever it's heard. I also like to stay active, whether it be exploring Madison itself or going for a run, bike ride, skiing, or immersing myself in the nature nearby.
I am also a visual artist, primarily making work at the intersection of code and design. Most of my work is computer generated - produced by code. Typically, this takes shape as a hands-off algorithm where I determine the "rules" of the piece, and the code will produce outputs based on those rules and sometimes some input(such as a random number "seed") - my art page has a few recent examples!
Summer of 2022, I went on a summer-long backpacking trip through Europe: I started in the Mediterranean, on the island of Mallorca, where I stayed for two weeks doing a cultural and language exchange with an amazing German/Catalan family. I thought I was only going to learn Spanish, but I left having a much deeper appreciation for German, Catalan, and Spanish culture as well as the beauty of different cultural backgrounds intersecting. I then spent the next ~5 weeks backpacking with a group of friends through Spain, England, Germany, Switzerland, Czechia, Slovenia, and Croatia, where I met countless amazing people and shared the joy of music - I traveled with only a backpack and a small acoustic guitar strapped to the side(highly recommended).
