    Learning Circles: Wikis

    Thursday (5/31/07) 10:45-11:45am

We discussed the use, pros, and cons of using "wikis" to create collaborative learning opportunities for students. The wiki is the document and all members can contribute to the content of the document.

I would like to create a CS310TA wiki for collecting all of the valuable information and resources that all TAs provide for new TAs to learn the expectations and requirements of their respective course. Guidelines must be established to help create a positive framework for this information. The TAs would be members and allowed to contribute to the document as long as they remain a TA of the course.

    Expanding the Wisconsin Idea: Podcasting

    Thursday (5/31/07) 8:30-9:30am

Learned some historical perspective on the Wisconsin Idea, that the work and research that is done at the UW-Madison is and should be made available to the larger community of the state as a whole and to an even broader global audience. We saw podcasting examples.

I will considering using podcasting for CS310 news items, a Matlab glossary, and possibily interviews with Field Engineers regarding the skills they need and use the most. Contact Writing (Journalism) people for assistance with interview questions and release forms.
