I grew up in a small town (around 8000 people) in northwest Ohio
called Kenton, and went to undergrad at Ohio Northern University,
a small private university (about 3000 students) only 20 minutes
from my home.
After working for a year as a research associate for the
University of Tennessee and Oak Ridge National Laboratory, I made
my way here to Madison, pulling my wife Lynn along kicking and
screaming because she hates the cold and wanted to stay in
Tennessee where it only snows once a year.
Lynn
and I were married
in the summer of 2001, after being together
for six years (since high school). We were married in the Poconos
(sounds cheezy doesn't it), in a small family ceremony at a little
chapel in Hickory Run State Park, PA. It was really cool though, there
was a creek running right outside of the chapel, the sun was
shining, and we got a lot of
great pics. For our
honeymoon, we had a villa complete with
hot tub and sauna at Split
Rock Resort in Split Rock, PA.
We had our reception for family and friends back in Ohio after the
honeymoon, which turned out to be the best way to do it (according
to everyone else we've talked to), except for the part where my dad
gashed his leg open on a tent post and had to go to the emergency
room for stitches :).
Since moving to Madison, we've purchased a house
in order to not sink all our money down the drain living in an apartment. It
was a fixer-upper, and we've made steady progress towards making it a home.
So far, we've replaced all the windows and doors, as well as replaced the
old & ugly aluminum siding. We've recently
remodeled the kitchen,
since it was previously straight outta the 50s. Next up are the
upstairs bedroom remodel and replacing the old damaged fence.
