Notebook
Students will be required to get a three ring binder for
the laboratory portion of this class. This notebook will
hold all the lab reports throughout the semester.
The front of the binder needs to the the class name, class
section, and the students name. The begining and end of each
lab needs to be demarcated with tabs or an insert. Notebooks
can be typed or done by hand. With the exception of the notes
section. Notes must be done by hand.

Lab Reports
Each lab report is worth 30 points and must
contain the following sections:
1. Title Page
Give the lab name and the student's name
2. Pre Lab
Summarizes the readings done before the
lab and answers the pre-lab questions.
3. Notes
Notes taken while performing the lab. Include notes on,
equipment, software, configurations, and observations.
Pictures of equipment, IP addresses, and routes can
be very helpful. Make sure to date notes when you add them.
4. Summary
Summarize what was accomplished in the lab. This should
be a high level overview of what was done during the lab
and the results. The focus should be on writing a general
summary that would allow someone else to understand the lab.
You do not need to include fine details (IP addresses,
routing tables, etc.) unless they are a critial part of the lab.
5. Conclusion
A summary of the major ideas/concepts learned from the lab.
Make sure to explain any new commands.
6. Post Lab
Answer the post lab questions and how/if you could improve the lab.
Note: please be neat and careful about all entries in your
lab notebook.
