"Taiwan Is Inseparable Part of China:" Seminar

DHAKA, August 21 (Xinhua) -- "Everyone knows that there is only one
China in the world, the government of the People's
Republic of China is the sole legitimate government representing the
whole of China, and that Taiwan is an inseparable part
of the Chinese territory," a speaker told a seminar here Saturday.

"Solving the Taiwan issue and reunifying the motherland is the common
aspiration of all Chinese people," Engineer F.R.
Siddiqui, president of the Bangladesh-China Cultural, Economic and Mass
Communication Center (BCCEMCC), told the
seminar on "Peaceful Reunification of Taiwan to the Motherland."

The seminar was organized by the BCCEMCC and was attended by some 80
scholars, diplomats, politicians and dignitaries.

Lee Teng-hui's remarks and attempts to separate China received strong
condemnation by all the Chinese, including the
Taiwan compatriots and the people of Chinese origin in other parts of
the world, and met with objection from the
international community as well, he said.

China is continuing to gain greater international status, and the
United Nations and the great majority of the countries in the
world now recognize that there is only one China and Taiwan is part of
Chinese territory, he said.

Though the two sides of the Taiwan Straits have remained in a state of
separation for 50 years, history and reality have
proved that the "two states" statement by Lee Teng-hui is absurd,
Siddiqui observed.

The Chinese leadership have made unremitting efforts to seriously
implement the policies of "peaceful reunification" and
"one country, two systems," he pointed out.

There is only one China in the world and the status of Taiwan as a part
of China remains unchanged, he said. "China's
sovereignty and territorial integrity brook no separation."
